Memorial Day Backpacking Trip - Part 2

After Steven and I got to the campsite, we staked out a place to park. After 11 miles we still had to set up our tent, build our fire pit, and then find Dana and the rest of the group.

That's me next to the tent and our sitting log.

Just right of the tent and through the little bushes is our route to the river.

And here's our bit of river.

I went scouting first to find Dana and the group and left this on the trail. It says "DANA"!

Well, Steven ended up finding them that night but they had already set up in a different camp. They liked their camp and we liked ours so we were okay with. We weren't more than a half a mile away from each other.

The following morning Steven and I met up with everyone to head to the hot springs. Below is Dana and Matt's tiny tent. It says it's for 2 people but that's obviously a lie.

This is Dana's camp again from the trail to the hot springs.

On the way to the springs, the plants started changing. the moss was this weird color.

And here we are, finally at the hot springs. It was indeed hot like a jacuzzi but not exactly what we were expecting. It was a bit of a disappointment.

After the hike to the hot springs we all decided to take it easy for the rest of the day. We went to our respective camps and took naps and read and played in the river. We met back up for dinner and campfire. Since our site was heavily wooded, Steven made a contraption to take some wood to the other camp.

Sorry. There were no picture of the campfire or of us singing and eating and drinking but trust us, we all had fun.

So the following morning was already time for our hike out. We again saw horses. These horses stopped to take a drink of water. You can also see all the gear they are either picking up or dropping off for someone with a lot of money.

There are some very large and very and very pretty lizards out there.

Well that's the trip. Here we are hiking out.

We are finally victorious reaching the sign that marks the trail head.

Goodbye Los Padres National Forest! It was fun!
